Alistair Overeem Thinks JDS is Afraid & Responds to Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva

STUDIO MMA, RIVERSIDE, CA – UFC president Dana White recently said Alistair Overeem could face the winner of the upcoming UFC 155 heavyweight title bout between champion Junior dos Santos and Cain Velasquez, upon his return. Even though dos Santos begged White to fight him, he still believes Overeem doesn’t deserve a title shot.

I think he doesn’t deserve to fight for the title. You know this guy, everyone is just talking about him because he failed the drug test and he started to talk a lot of trash, so that is why people are talking about him. Well, his time will come.

Since the announcing of ‘The Ultimate Fighter: 17’ coaches – UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen – there has been an outcry of resentment from the fans, media and fighters. Claiming title shots are prioritized in what will sell and make more money rather than who really deserves it.

Everyone knows Sonnen trash-talked his way into a title shot against Jones. Dos Santos feels Overeem has been trying to do the same thing. Though, Overeem refutes that claim and tells why Dos Santos doesn’t make sense.  (Via MixFight.nl)

Well Junior dos Santos says all kind of things that don’t really make sense. First he begged to Dana White he wanted to fight me, so as a fighter I accept such a challenge right away. Now he’s saying that I don’t deserve a title fight. He has to make up his mind as he’s changing his story all the time. The same stuff he was saying about me going to the school of Chael Sonnen. I never made the fight between us personal and I never bad mouthed him, the only thing I said was that I think he’s afraid of me which I think he still is haha. When I signed with the UFC I could of easily go for the title shot right away but I chose to fight Brock Lesnar so in no means I’m talking myself into a title shot. If the UFC wants me to fight for the title I’m available and if they decide to let me fight someone else first I’m also fine with that. I’m a fighter and I will get my chance sooner or later.

Anotonio “Bigfoot” Silva recently said he wants Overeem next, if he chooses to fight rather than wait for a title shot. Silva is coming off a TKO victory over Travis Browne at UFC on FX 5, marking his first Octagon win.

While a title shot is ideally, Overeem is a fighter at the end of the day and will fight who ever the UFC wants him to.

Well if he said that, then that’s great news as I’m open to fight whoever the UFC gives me. Bigfoot is a good fighter and we were supposed to fight each other in the Strikeforce tournament anyway so it’s like unfinished business.

What’s next for Overeem, a title shot or “Bigfoot”?
