Swedish Grappler Saves the King!
STUDIO MMA, RIVERSIDE, CA – Training mixed martial arts has its perks. Yes it gives you mental and physical strength, along with a strong understanding of respect and honor. But it can also be use as self defense or to save someone in distress. That’s something the 29-year-old construction worker, Peter Becker, encountered first hand a few weeks ago.
On August 6th in Stockholm, Sweden a man carrying a bayonet knife attacked a security guard outside the Swedish (regeringskansliet) Senate building, determined to kill the guard and take his firearm (gun). However, Peter Becker and his colleague just so happen to be driving by when they witnessed the attack.
I saw this guy attacking a security guard and I just reacted on instincts,” Becker told Aftonbladet. “I stopped the car, ran out and thought ‘I have to get this perpetrator of this guard immediately’.
Becker proceeds to get the back of the assailant, getting in the hooks, and securing the rear-naked choke. During the struggle, Becker’s colleague kicks the knife away and helps the dazed security guard cuff the man.
“He gave up quickly,” Becker said. “He Just glazed at the sky without saying a word.”
The man’s intentions were to kill and take the security guard’s gun. Then was planning on using the gun to kill the Swedish king, in which he confessed to during his interrogation. The assailant is currently detained and awaiting psychiatric examination.
