Dana White Wants Anderson Silva Vs. ‘GSP’, Then Possibly Silva Vs. Jon Jones
STUDIO MMA, RIVERSIDE, CA – In 2013 we may very well see a super-fight between UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre. On Monday, UFC president Dana White made his first appearance on AXS TV’s (previously known as HDNet) “Inside MMA” to give more incite on two possibly super-fights.
St-Pierre feels all the talk of a ‘super-fight’ disrespects his upcoming opponent and current interim welterweight champion, Carlos Condit. Plus there are still plenty of contenders left in the welterweight division, most notably, Johny Hendricks and Martin Kampmann.
Silva also has numerous middleweight contenders vying for a shot at the title. With names like Michael Bisping, Brian Stann, Tim Boetsch, Chris Weidman, and Alan Belcher all wanting their opportunity to become champion.
St-Pierre vs. Silva will most likely happen, if GSP can get past Condit at UFC 154. Dana White hinted at another super-fight that may be on the horizon as well.
So, here’s how this whole thing has gone down, and you guys have seen it play out. Anderson and ‘GSP’ were talking like they didn’t wanna fight. Now, if St. Pierre beats Carlos Condit, he’s saying he wants to fight Anderson, and Anderson is saying he wants to fight him. So, that fight will probably happen first. Now, Anderson and Jones are saying, ‘We don’t wanna fight. We’re buddies.’ But, he didn’t wanna fight Rashad Evans either, and that happened. So, as you start to get to a point where Anderson is, in his career — he’s beat everyone. He’s broken every record in the UFC. If he beats Georges St. Pierre, I guarantee you he’ll be eyeballing Jon Jones next.
