[LIVE-SMACK!] Play-By-Play of K-1 Rising 2012

STUDIO MMA, LOS ANGELES — We’re back in Los Angeles for K-1 Rising 2012 – The U.S. Grand Prix Championship.  The Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena is the venue and a nice crowd has flocked to the event.  K-1 is the world’s leading kickboxing promotion.  Wrestling and grappling techniques are not allowed in these bouts, which are conducted entirely in the standing position.  And let’s get this thing started!

GLEN SPENCER
MIKE LEMAIRE

Spencer comes bouncing into the ring wearing shiny red shorts.  And now Mike Lemaire strolls in, puffs of flame on either side of the catwalk.   Robes off.  Both men looking cut and ready.

Round 1

LeMaire with black gloves and Spencer with red.  They tap.  And we start.  Lemaire attacks.  Front kick to chest from Spencer.  LeMaire with a leg kick and a hard overhand right.  Another leg kick from LeMaire.  He’s the aggressor.  Headkick blocked by Spencer.  They clinch.  Ref breaks it.  Spencer with a nice leg kick, but stumbles back.  Clinch again.  Superman from LeMaire misses.  But a right lands.  He’s controlling the ring.  A nice knee and left kick to the body.  Body kick from Spencer.  Lemaire looking for some knees in the corner.  Nothing lands.  Spencer constantly retreating, but hasn’t been hurt yet.  Nice body kick from LeMaire.  He grabs a Spencer kick, and Spencer drops.  Lemaire attacking.  Overhand right from Spencer glances.  Great knee to the gut from Spencer ends the round.

LeMaire much more aggressive and active in that first frame.  10-9 to him. 

Round 2

Lemaire again establishes ring control.  Headkick misses from Spencer, but he lands a sharp leg kick.  Lemaire catches a kick and throws a straight.  Spencer tripped to the ground.  They’re banging.  LeMaire drives Spencer to the ropes and we almost went overboard there.  LeMaire with a couple of nice leg kicks.  Spencer with an ineffective combo.  Not much power coming from him.  Lemaire has him on the ropes and throwing a mix of strikes.  Nice left hook inside lands for LeMaire.  Spencer fighting back now and land s a hard right straight.  The crowd is liking it.  Punch-kick combo from Lemaire.  Lemaire catches another kick and trips Spencer.  They’re brawling now as the round comes to an end.

Better round for Spencer, but LeMaire still controlling the tempo and showing more grit.  10-9 LeMaire.

Round 3 

They hug to start the round.  Lemaire clinches and drives Spencer to ropes.  Leaping switch kick to the head lands for Lemaire.  Nice work there.  On the ropes again.  Thigh kick for LeMaire.  Now Spencer pushing LeMaire to the ropes.  They break.  Nice left for Spencer.  But LeMaire unphased.  Good combo and sharp leg kick from Lemaire.  Followed by a head kick that is blocked.  LeMaire really muscling Spencer around tonight.  Superman punch misses for LeMaire.  Spencer not looking like he cares to win this fight.  Just occasional flurries.  Lemaire with punches in bunches.  Uppercut lands for Spencer .  His corner is screaming for more of that.  Great combination to end the round for Spencer.

Spencer started to come alive as the fight ended… but that won’t win the judges over.  LeMaire too powerful.  10-9 for the clean sweep.

RESULT: Unanimous decision for Mike LeMaire.

 

DAMIEN EARLEY
JERMAINE SOTO

Earley in the black shorts.  Soto runs and hops into the cage.  The crowd likes him.  He wears the white trunks.

Round 1

Push kick from Soto to start.  Sharp strikes from both men.  Body kick lands for Soto.  Then he throws another and Earley grabs it and trips him.  Nice work there.  Big right lands for Soto.  He seems to throw with a bit more pizzazz.  But great combo from Earley.  Right lands for Earley.  Soto wings and misses an overhand.  Nice punch-kick combos for Earley here.  Soto takes one to the nards and we pause.  Back at it now.  Huge right body kick from Soto thuds against Earley’s chest.  1-2 kick from Earley. Another nice body kick for Soto and Earley tries to trip him again.  Front kick misses Earley’s chin.  Sharp thigh kick from Earley.  Side kick lands for Earley, then Soto throws a spinning back kick that misses.  They pick up the intensity, exchanging kicks in the center of the ring, and right as the bell sounds, Soto drops Earley with a straight right.  Earley back up quickly and to his corner.

Soto takes the round 10-9 with some hard striking.

Round 2

Attacking combo from Earley, then he lands a head kick that doesn’t damage Soto.  Soto with a body kick and another spinner.  Big right lands for Earley, then a head kick, but Soto powers through it.  Jabs back and forth.  Body shot and leg kick combo from Earley.  Another nice strong thigh kick from Earley.  Head kick caught by Earley, followed by a leg sweep.  Soto with some spinning kicks and then a fling head kick.  Then they bang against the ropes, both men throwing haymakers.  Crowd likes it.  Earley leads with an uppercut that lands.  Then a nice head kick that is partially blocked.  Soto lands a body kick.  Big battle in the center of the ring ends the round!  Booyah!.

Earley offered more in that round and got the better of the stand-and-box exchanges.  10-9.

Round 3

They are going to war in the center of the ring.  Right lands for Earley.  Soto throwing with a lot of gusto.  Earley gets another trip.  Side kick from Soto.  Head kick followed by spinning heel kick.  Both miss for Soto, but looked cool.  Nice combo lands for Soto, but answered by a straight right to the chin from Earley that crumples Soto!  The ref is counting.  Soto very slow to stand and then spits out his mouthpiece.  The ref waves it off.  Stunning KO victory for Earley.

RESULT: Earley by KO, Round 3.

 

 

JAMES “THE BEAST” WILSON
DOUG “THE PRETTY BOY FROM TROY” SAUER

Wilson is indeed a beast, but Sauer is certainly not a pretty boy.

Round 1

Straight kick from Sauer and then a leg kick.  Wilson with an inside leg kick.  Nice body kick from Sauer in response.  Wilson throws one to the jewels and we pause.  Back on.  Leg kick from Sauer.  Sharp one in return from Wilson.  Sauer with a combo that is blocked.  Head kick blocked by Sauer.  Oen misses in return.  Sauer breathing with his mouth open.  He’s throws some push kicks.  Sauer throwing but not landing.  Minimal attacks from Wilson so far.  Then Wilson attacks with a powerful right hook and a vicious left hook that lands on the button, and Sauer’s eyes roll back in his head.  He is unconscious against the ropes, and then falls through them.  The ref steps in as Sauer is laid out and asleep on a side table.  That was vicious!  What  KO!!!

Wilson baited Sauer by not throwing much of anything until that knockout attack.  Mama mia!  Sauer is sitting up now, thankfully. Now he’s got his senses, but they roll him out on a stretcher for precautionary reasons.  He watches the replay and shakes his head in disappointment.

RESULT: Wilson by KO, Round 1.

 

BRYCE “THE BODYSNATCHER” KRAUSE
JUSTIN “THE PURPLE PEOPLE EATER” GRESKIEWICZ

Round 1

Greski attacking to start.  Now Krause with a quick left hook.  Body kick  from Krause followed by a straight right.  Huge combo from Krause lands on the button and stuns Greski.  Body punches land for Krause.  Greski is bleeding from the nose.  Hard left hook from Krause, but Greski catches a kick and trips him.  Fast head kick misses from Krause.  Greski bleeding.  Right hand from Krause.  Big head kick from Krause lands .  Krause attacking with the hands.  Head kick misses, and Greski answers with a  kick to the thigh.  Nice jab from Greski.  Krause attacks again.  Big body kick from Krause, answered by Greski.  Nice round.

Some solid boxing from Krause, outclassing Greski.  10-9 Krause.

Round 2

Greski leads with the jab and some kicks.  Big head kick thuds for Krause.  Krause to the body now.  Krause grazes with an overhand right, then lands a body kick.  They trade jabs.  Body kick from Greski.  Krause counters with a strong straight right.  Krause going big with his hands… looking for the KO punch, it seems.  Big right from Greski.  He’s coming back a bit here.  But a heavy left hook lands for Krause.  Greski’s nose looks broken.  Krause wants to stand and bang.  Greski throws a knee.  Now a combo of punches that hurts Krause!  Greski lands a right to the temple and Krause is on his knees.  Cecil Peoples counts to 8 and Krause is back up.  They reengage, and almost immediately Greski lands another hard right to the temple and Krause is down to his knees again.  He gets back up and the round ends.

Lots of damage inflicted on Krause.  Two knockdowns.  10-7 for Greski.

Round 3

Krause dodged a bullet there.  He’s throwing hard now.  Body kick lands for Greski.  He catches Krause’s leg and trips him.  Tough battle here.  Krause looking to get inside and land some leather.  Both men with right hands.  Krause is hurt.  Greski continues to unload and Krause drops to a knee.  Cecil Peoples has seen enough.  He waves it off.  Impressive comeback TKO for Greski!

RESULT: Greskiewicz by TKO (punches), Round 3.

 

BEN “STONE-MAN” YELLE
JOEY PAGLIUSO

Yelle in the red, white, and blue.  Pagliuso in neon green shorts.

Round 1

Pagli misses with a front kick.  Yelle throws some leather.  Hard jab from Pagliuso.  Low kicks from Yelle, and Pagli catches and trips him, twice.  Yelle attacking.  Combo lands for Yelle.  Pagli moving well.   A nice trip again.  Yelle leaving his leg out there too long.  Pagli misses a right and stumbles.  Big right lands for Pagli.  Yelle is hurt.  Another hard one lands for Pagli.  Yelle look unstable, but he survives.  Pagli delivering some punishment.  Spinning back kick for Pagli.  He’s moving very well.  A huge right lands for Pagli and a straight left.  Then a flying knee at the bell finds Yelle’s chin!  He flops to his back, but is up quick.  The ref gives him a standing count.  The round is over.  Impressive attacks from Pagliuso.

Powerful boxing from the Italian Pagliuso.  10-8.

Round 2

Low kick from Yelle.  He’s attacking hard.  Angrily.  Pagli looking to counter.  He throws another flying knee that glances.  A left from Pagli.  The crowd is chanting Joey, but Yelle is attacking a big right and a front kick to the face lands for Pagliuso.  Yelle is hurt badly.  Pagliuso chases him and lands a straight right that drops Yelle.  He’s back up.  Joey looking for the finish.  A left hand catches Yelle and the ref is counting again.  Can Pagliuso finish.  A hard right lands and a combo.  Pagli is chasing him and landing punch after punch.  Yelle in all sorts of trouble.  They clinch.  Yelle bleeding from the nose.  Pagli lands a knee to the body and throws Yelle to the ground.  Yelle is barely there.  An overhand right lands for Pagli.  This is close to being stopped.  The round ends and Yelle barely knows where he is.

Absolutely dominant round for Pagliuso.  10-7.

Round 3

Yelle is a survivor, but little more.  A huge right lands for Pagli.  Yelle in trouble again and the ref has seen enough.  He steps in between them and the fight is over.  Yelle’s eyes are glazed over.  That was a righteous stoppage.  Brutal work by Pagliuso for the TKO.

RESULT: Pagliuso by TKO (punches), Round 3.

 

SCOTTY RAY LEFFLER
MICHAEL MANANQUIL

Round 1

MM with a nice hand combo to start and a head kick that lands.  MM looking very fast.  Leffler holding his own.  Hard body kcik lands for MM.  Leffler attacks with some knees.  Body kick form Leffler.  He’s darting in with his attacks.  MM throws a front kick to Leffler’s nuts.  They start again.  Front kick and superman punch from MM.  Leffler countering well.  Spinning heel kick from Leffler.  And a hard body kick.  Leffler with a nice boxing combo that lands.  MM winging and Leffler pushing forward.  Ref stops and warns Lefller.  Uppercut and hard right lands for Leffler.  Low kick to the shins.  Tha did not sound good.  Body kick from MM and a right hand finds its mark.  A big kneedfrom MM and another.  Lefller is stunned.  Head kick from MM.  Leffler holding hi ground.  MM looks for a knee and then lands a front kick to the face that stuns Leffler.

Great round for both men.  Mananquil came back and did some damage at the end of the round, earning it for him.  10-9 Mananquil.

Round 2

They engage.  Leffler with a few kicks.  Right hand from MM and a knee.  Both men showing some marks.  A head kick almost lands for MM.  MM throws a hard right that catches Leffler in the back of the head and he falls to this knees.  A flash down.  He’s back up with no count.  A front kick to the face lands for MM.  Spinning heel misses for Leffler.  Leffler the aggressor now.  Warning from the ref to MM.  Big combo for Leffler.  MM is stunned.  Not badly though.  Leffler with the better boxing at this point.  Head kick misses for MM, but a face push-kick lands.  Punch-punch-low kick for Leffler.  Leffler pushes MM into the corner and starts banging.  Another front kick to the face and a body kick ends the round in Mananquil’s favor!

Some flashy work to earn the points for Mananquil.  10-9.

Round 3

Leffler throws a superman that lands.  Countered by MM.  nice jabs from Leffler.  Spinning kick from Leffler, countered with a right hand by MM.  Leffler looking to bully Mananquil.  Spinning back fist connects with the side of MM’s head.  Body kick to the liver by Leffler.  Nice action.  Right hand lands to the brow of Leffler.  But he plows forward.  MM is not hurting him with his boxing.  Although Leffler looks a little wobbly due to exertion perhaps.  Repeated clinching in the corner.  Ref breaks it up again.  MM looking for knees.  And now a front kick lands and a left hook staggers Leffler.  A big right hook to the temple catches Leffler!  MM could finish this.  And the round ends with another hard right to the side of Leffer’s head!

Very solid, multi-dimensional attack from Mananquil.  He sweeps it 10-9.

RESULT:  Mananquil by Unanimous Decision, Round 3.

 

KIT COPE
CHAZ “NO MERCY” MULKEY

Round 1

Mulkey stalking Cope dancing.  Cope with some high kicks.  They start swinging.  Hard punching from both men.  Mulkey barely misses a huge head kick.  Cope lands one!  They clinch.  Cope misses with a  beastly uppercut.  Low kick from Mulkey answer by high kick from Cope.  Two tough tattooed dudes in here.  Cope with some good angles in his boxing.  Low kick from Cope lands.  They clinch.  Cope throwing some sharp hands here, but not landing.  Right hand lands for Mulkey.  Head kick blocked by Mulkey.  They trade low kicks then clinch.  Head kick lands for Cope.  Round ends.

Cope landed more, even though Mulkey was the aggressor.  Draw 10-10.

Round 2

They scrap and clinch.  Now back to the center.  Cope avoiding Mulkey’s attacks well.  They are clinching in the corner again.  Head kick misses for Mulkey.  He’s attacking, but no damage.  Cope wings a left that misses.  Mulkey lands a knee to the side of Cope’s head.  Cope just threw a wild spinning kick and really hurt his leg.  He’s hobbled!  Mulkey drops him with a kick attack.  Cope gets a count from the ref.  He’s back up, but his left leg is a mess.  Mulkey low-kicks and drops him again.  Another count from the ref, and Cope is slow to get up.  He’s injured.  This doesn’t look good.  We start again and Mulkey drops him with another low kick.  This time the ref steps in and stops it.  Cope just could not fight with that leg.

Now Mulkey is taunting Cope.  The ref pushes Mulkey away and he starts grappling with the ref!  His corner jumps in to calm things down.

RESULT: Mulkey by TKO (kicks), Round 2.

 

WENTZ SHUICHI
ROMIE ADANZA

Cecil gives the instructions and we are ready to start.

Round 1

They trade leg kicks.  Nice punches from Adanza.  Shuichi countering.  Body boxing from Shuichi.  Shuichi catches Adanza with a hard right head kick to the face and he drops!!!  Adanza’s unconscious and seizing!  That is scary.  The doctors rush in.  Adanza is awake now, thankfully.  They get him up to a stool and the crowd applauds.  This is a dangerous sport, folks!

The stretcher is ringside, ready to cart Adanza away.  The second such casualty of the night.

RESULT: Shuichi by KO (head kick), Round 1.

  

EN KANG
TRAVIS GARLITS
 

Massive experience discrepancy here.  Kang has 52 fights to Garlits’ 8 fights.

Round 1

Garlits testing Kang with some jabs.  Kang looks very quick.  Flying knee from Kang.  He’s off balance and Garlits catches him with a hard right hook.  Kang recovers.  Garlits coach yelling a little too loudly.  Leg kick from Kang.  Garlits counters.  Kang controlling the center of the ring.  Garlits dancing.  Not much connecting yet.  Kang went for the trip.  They clinched.  Right hand lands for Kang.

Slow round.  Garlits landed the best strike, but Kang might have been more active.  10-9 Garlits.

Round 2

Kang attacks with a n overhand left.  Garlits throwing leather in return.  Combo then headkick from Kang.  They’re banging and more active than in the first.  Kang with a knee.  Inside leg kick from Kang.  He’s got the better technique.  Left hand and knee land for Kang.  He’s stalking.  Nice right then left, then head kick from Kang.  He’s starting to pick Garlits apart.  Kang throws a nasty spinning back fist that lands.  Pop!  Kang has no respect for Garlits.  He’s standing with his hands down.  A big right ROCKS Garlits.  Kang throwing punches an dkicks to his staggered foe!  Great display by Kang!

Round 3

Garlits seems urgent.  Kang barely misses with a head kick.  A big overhand left from Kang, the southpaw.  Push kicks from Garlits.  Kang assaulting and throwing hard punches.  He’s goading Garlits now.  Kang stalking and Garlits looks nervous.  Headkick by Garlits blocked.  Another overhand left from Kang.  They trade leg kicks.  Garlits looking a bit better here than las round.  Kang throws a looping right hand that connets with Garlit’s ear.  Flying knee from Kang.  No damage.  Kang turns his back and Garlits attacks with a leg kick.  Kang should stop showboating and finish this fight.  Superman punch from Kang.  Ten seconds to go and Kang lands a sharp head kick to put an exclamation point on the fight!

Kang is the better fighter and it showed in the last two rounds.  Garlits ineffective.  10-9 Kang.  That gives him the fight, 29-28.

RESULT: Kang by Unanimous Decision, Round 3.

 

LERDSILA “MR. LIGHTNING” CHUMPAIRTOUR
GABRIEL VARGA

Mr. Lighting has 135 victories to his credit, and only 15 losses.  That’s quite the career!  But Varga is a tough customer with a 20-1 record.

Round 1

Mr. Lightning looks like a cobra ready to pounce.  Lots of action to start.  He runs and Varga with a kick.  Varga has about 5 inches on Mr. Lighting.  Mr. L fights with his hands down and wobbles his head like… a cobra.  Varga comes in for the clinch and Mr. L tags him.  Varga lands a hard spinning back fist that drops Mr. L, but he bounces back up for  a flash down.  Crazinesss.  Varga attacking and Mr. L constantly taunting, hands down.  They clinch again.  Varga misses with a spinning back first.  Then he lands a right.  Mr. L with a head kick, blocked.

Varga hurt Mr. Lightning with that back fist and earned the round 10-9.  But Mr. Lightning is one of the most entertaining fighters we’ve ever seen.  Lots of laughs coming from the crowd.

Round 2

Mr. L lands a head kick and then jumps into Varga’s arms.  Strange. He’s warned by the ref.  Lightning lands a punch combo that stuns Varga.  Front kicks from Lightning, then head kicks that are blocked.  Left-right from Mr. L lands.  Warned again for hugging.  Clinches and clinches.  Varga keeps driving Mr. L into the ropes.  Huge body kick lands for Mr. Lightning.  More clinches.  Varga lands a hard right that rocks Mr. Lightning’s head back.

Varga attacking hard, but Mr. Lightning landed the cleaner stuff.  Close round.  10-9 Mr. Lightning.

Round 3

Kicks from Mr. L.  He’s fast.  But Varga trying to bully him into the ropes again. Right hook lands for Mr. L.  Varga misses a spinning fist.  Varga lands a head kick.  But Mr. lightning is not hurt.  Huge head kick lands for Varga.  But Mr. L walks through it.  Lots of banging and clinching, but no damage from either man.  Ref warns Varga for holding.  Mr. Lightning not doing enough to win this fight.  Varga catches him with a left hook.  They end the round clinch-hugging.

Disappointing showing by Mr. Lightning.  Too much play time for the Thai fighter.  Varga landed much more in that round, including a hard head kick.  10-9 Varga, giving him the fight 29-28. 

RESULT: Varga by Unanimous Decision, Round 3.

 

MARKHAILE “SHOWTIME” WEDDERBURN
JEREMIAH METCALF

Markhaile taking a long time to dance his way to the ring.  Now Metcalf dances to the ring, but with heavy drumming from the LA Drum Cartel.

Round 1

Metcalf attacks like a bull chasing Showtime all over the ring and throwing everything but the kitchen sink.  Showtime trips and they restart.  Hard leg kick and then body kick from Metcalf.  Big lefts land for Showtime.  Then a flying knee to the body.  Metcalf calming down.  He tries to power through Showtime’s strikes.  Left from Showtime, and another.  When Metcalf drives in, he is greeted with a left hook.  Metcalf is wild.  He catches Showtime with a left.  And another.   And an uppercut.  He’s hurting Showtime.  He throws a knee to the liver that crumples Showtime.  The ref counts and Showtime does not make it up.  Metcalf is an untamed beast, but a winner.

RESULT: Metcalf by KO (knee to the body), Round 1.

 

SETH “THE SILVERBACK” PETRUZELLI
XAVIER “SAGAT” VIGNEY

Vigney is an absolute monster.  6’8” and 245lbs.  He is a giant in the ring.  We know Petruzelli from his MMA career, which included a knockout of Kimbo Slice.

Round 1

Petruzelli really is a gorilla, throwing some hard stuff at Sagat.  Big right from Seth.  Kicks from Sagat.  Spinning heel kick lands for Seth.  Sagat attacks and they clinch.  Sagat throwing some big punches that back up Petruzelli.  Sagat using his kicks to keep distance.  Now he attacks.  Petruzelli might be hurt.  And he’s dropped to his knees.  Cecil counts, but Petruzelli is back up.  They attack and clinch.  Sagat throws Seth down.  Sagat with a flying kick and then throws some heavy punches.  He’s bullying Petruzelli now.  And overhand right behind Petruzelli’s ear, drops him.  He gets the count, but is back up and the round ends.  Petruzelli look like he doesn’t have it in him in this fight.

Big round for Vigney.  He dropped the Silverback twice.  10-7.

Round 2

Seth with a spinning heel kick to Sagat’s head.  They clash.  Seth throws a side kick.  Then Sagat drops him again.  Cecil counts, but Seth is back up.  He misses with a spinning back fist.  Sagat attacks with some punches and a huge knee to the body that drops Petruzelli.  He’s not getting up.  Cecil waves it off.  That’s it.  Vigney is a… monster.

RESULT: Vigney by KO (knee), Round 2.

 

RICK “THE JET” ROUFUS
MIGHTY MO

Both men are 40 years plus, but Might Mo has a 65-pound advantage(?) on Roufus.  Roufus has 43 KO’s in his career, to Mo’s 12.  It seems that Might Mo’s family is here… they are loud!

Round 1

Roufus dancing and Mo cutting off the ring.  Mo catches a head kick and attacks, but Rougus escapes unscathed.  Roufus lands a hard left.  Front kick from Roufus.  Big body kick from Mo.  He’s throwing his whole 280lbs into every strike.  Nice kcik then spinning heel kick by Roufus.  Mo barely misses a spinning heel kick that would have finished Roufus.  Spinning fist from Roufus.  Mo with a  big left to the body.  Head kick from Mo, blocked.  They clinch.  Left hook catches Roufus behind the ear.  Left From Roufus.  And the round ends.

Close round, but Mo was more dangerous, aggressive, and landed the heavier strikes.  10-9 Mighty Mo.

Round 2

Mo with a straight right to the body.  He throws a wild left that Roufus ducks under.  Mo corners Roufus and unloads.  No damage.  The ref warns Mo.  Big body kick from Roufus and a straight left.  Roufus dodging well.  Mo catches Roufus to the back of the head.  Now  a body kick from Mo.  A huge looping left from Roufus lands on the button, but Mo withstands it.  Wow.  That was a shot.  Another body kick-straight left from Roufus.  Now a left lands on Mo’s kisser.  Mo attacking like a rhino, but Roufus escaping well.  Spinning heel lands for Roufus on Mo’s gut.

Roufus looked really good there, stifling Mo’s attacks and landing some shots.  10-9 Roufus.

Round 3

Question mark kick misses for Rougus.  Big shot to the body by Mo.  Rufous shakes his head.  Body kick from Mo and misses with a hard right.  Spinnning back fist lands for Roufus.  Leg kick from Mo.  Head kick lands for Mo, rocking Roufus momentarily.  Looping left from Roufus is blocked.  As is a straight left.  Mo is winging those punches, looking for a grand slam.  Roufus evasive.  Mo catches Roufus with a right and then a glancing head kick.  Roufus stumbles.  Mo throwing body shots that a re a bit low.   They bang and clinch.  Mo slowing down here.  Roufus another back fist that glances.  Close round.

No real damage by either men, but Mo was the aggressor and Roufus seemed a bit too evasive to give him the round.  10-9 Mo, for the 29-28 decision. 

RESULT: Roufus by split decision, Round 3.  Great victory for the 46-year-old.

 

JARRELL “BIG BABY” MILLER
JACK “THE OUTLAW” MAY
 

May is enormous.  6’8” and 260 pounds.  He enters the ring wearing a spiked hoodie.  Miller is not much smaller, at 6’4” and 250 pounds.  Big Baby wore a diaper at the weigh-ins.  Both men are undefeated.

Round 1

Hard leg kicks from May to start.  They clinch and trade knees.  Nother attack and big knees from May.  Big left lands for May.  He’s very active to start.  Now Miller showing some boxing.  And May offering some in return.  May is swinging hard.  Miller starts bouncing a bit.  He needs to get active.  Inside leg kick from Miller.  Big knee from May.  Both men using good head movement.  They clinch, and then a big uppercut drops May to his back in the center of the ring!  The ref counts to seven before he gets back up.  He’s very wobbly.  Another uppercut drops May and that’s it!  He doesn’t make it up in time.  Miller has some heavy hands.  Beautiful KO for Big Baby.

RESULT: Miller by KO, Round 1.

 

DEWEY “THE BLACK COBRA” COOPER
RANDY “BOOM BOOM” BLAKE

Both of these men can end a fight in an instant.  They have 44 KOs between them.

Round 1

Blacke with a head kick that’s blocked.  Another one.  Cooper throwing low kicks.  Front kick from Blake misses.  They have yet to really engage.  Hard kick combo from Blake.  Another hard one to the mid-section of Cooper.  Cooper advancing and Blake countering.  Punch combo from Blake is fended off.  Cooper with a right then left.  Blake throws a spinning heel kick that misses, then lands an inadvertent elbow.  Side kicks from Blake.  Cooper pushes him of and attacks.  Inside kick from Cooper.

Blake did more work in that round.  10-9.

Round 2

Blake lands a knee to the chin, but Cooper OK.  They crack shins.  Blake doing some fancy stuff, then throws a body kick.  Nice combo lands for Blaek, snapping off of Cooper’s face.  Overhand left lands for Cooper.  They clinch and break.  Spinning heel kick from Blake almost finds the mark.  They clinch.  Now they’re banging.  Cooper very aggressive, but he takes one to the jewels and we pause.  Action resumes.  Front kick from Blake lands to the chest.  Nice boxing from Blake now.  Cooper attacking wildly, trying to musce his way in.  No damage though.  Left lands for Cooper.  He’s throwing a lot of punches at the end of the round.

Cooper the more active fighter in that one.  Not tremendously effective, but very aggressive.  Cooper 10-9.

Round 3

Cooper working hard to get within Blake’s reach.  Lots of clinching here.  Blake lands a front kick to Cooper’s chin.  Clean.  Blake more athletic and dynamic here.  Another front kick lands for Blake.  Clinch and break.  Inside leg kick from Cooper.  They bang in the center of the ring.  Blake lands a hardone.  Head kick from Blake amost connects.  They trade and then clinch.  Hard body kick catches Cooper.  Now a head kick and a spinning heel kick.  Cooper was hurt for a moment.  Now Cooper attacking and landing.  Blake is staggered.  Great action here to end the round.

Close round.  Blake with the cleaner shots and better technique.  But Cooper used his muscle and aggression to put Blake in danger at one point.  A squeaker for Blake, 10-9.  That gives him the fight 29-28. 

RESULT: Blake by Unanimous Decision, Round 3.
