Winner of Shogun vs Vera Gets Title Shot

STUDIO MMA, LOS ANGELES – UFC on Fox: Shogun vs Vera takes place Saturday at Staples Center in Los Angeles. The winner of Shogun/Vera will get a shot at the belt and UFC’s President, Dana White confirmed the news today during the media conference call.

“Shogun just came off a ‘Fight of the Year’ last year. He is probably one of the best fighters of the last decade. Think about it. This guy knocked out Rampage, Chuck Liddell, Mark Coleman, Lyoto Machida, Forrest Griffin, and knocked out Alistair Overeem twice, submitted Kevin Randleman. A win vs Vera puts him right back in position, and then he’s probably the No. 2 guy in the world.”

Brandon Vera 12-5-1 MMA, 8-5-1 UFC, extremely thrilled about headlining this event against Mauricio Shogun Rua. When this fight was announced many believed that Vera wasn’t a main event name and definitely not a title contender. Brandon Vera responded today during the call:

“This is opportunity of a life time, I will show you on Saturday”
