Travis Browne vs Antonio Silva Set For Main Event at UFC on FX 5
STUDIO MMA, LOS ANGELES – UFC heavyweight Travis Browne 13-0-1 MMA, 4-0-1 UFC, was initially set for UFC on Fox 4: Shogun vs Vera against Ben Rothwell. Studiomma.com reported earlier this week that Rothwell pulled out from the fight due an injury and now UFCs officials decided to pull Travis Browne completly from this card and place him as the main event at UFC on FX 5 against Antonio “Big Foot” Silva. USA Today first reported the news.
Antonio Silva, who recently fought and suffered a TKO loss to former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez at UFC 146, will have another opportunity to prove he belongs within the UFC’s heavyweight division. Beating Fedor Emelianenko in the opening round of Strikeforce Grand Prix tournament via TKO (Doctor Stoppage) and then losing to the newly crowned Strikeforce GP champion Daniel Cormier.
UFC on FX 5 will take place in Minneapolis on October 5, 2012. Diego Nunes vs Bart Palaszewski are also attached to the card.
