[BREAKING] Sonnen Coach Appealing to NSAC, Wants “No Contest”

STUDIO MMA, VENICE, CA — MMAJunkie.com/USA Today has the scoop.  Scott McQuarry has contacted the Nevada State Athletic Commission in order to begin an appeal process that would overturn Anderson Silva’s 2nd-round TKO of Chael Sonnen at this weekend’s UFC 148.  McQuarry claims that Anderson’s knee strike, which precipitated the TKO, was to the face and illegal.

NSAC Executive Director Keith Kizer, however, doesn’t see a light at the end of the tunnel for McQuarry.  MMAJunkie.com quotes him as saying,

Anybody can file an appeal, but as you know, the referee’s decision is final… He’s the sole determiner that the knee was a lawful strike, and then he stopped the fight thereafter after the additional strikes. I don’t know what the legal basis would be.

More as the story develops…
