Quinton “Rampage” Jackson Vs. Glover Teixeira at UFC 153 in Brazil
STUDIO MMA, RIVERSIDE, CA – A light heavyweight bout between Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Glover Teixeira has been added to UFC 153, which is expected to take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. “Rampage” vs. Teixeira is currently the only fight announced for the card. UFC first reported the match-up to Globo.
Jackson [32-10-0 MMA, 7-4-0 UFC] is coming off back-to-back losses and has been recovery from knee surgeries. Jon Jones submitted (Rear-Naked Choke) Jackson at UFC 135 to retain his light heavyweight title. Jackson then dropped a unanimous decision loss to Ryan Bader at UFC 144. Rampage will possibly be fighting for the last time in the Octagon after numerous conflicts with UFC officials and Dana White.
Teixeira [18-2-0 MMA, 1-0-0 UFC] made his anticipated octagon debut at UFC 146, destroying TUF alum Kyle Kingsbury en route to a submission (Arm-Triangle) victory. UFC president Dana White tried to make the Mauricio “Shogun” Rua vs. Teixeira bout last month, but the former light heavyweight champion declined. Rua later explained his refusal by citing that Teixeira is still green in the promotion, with only one UFC appearance under his belt.
